Description
The reverse of each coin showcases Pistrucci’s classic 1817 design, complete with the highly sought-after garter inscription surrounding the artwork. Bearing the phrase “Honi soit quimal y pense” — translated as “Shame be to him who thinks evil of it” —the inscription represents the motto of the Order of the Garter, the highest order of chivalry in the United Kingdom. Significantly, this garter detail had not appeared on sovereigns since 1820, making its return especially meaningful for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
The obverse features the fifth definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. Notably, the date appears on the obverse for the first time since 1887, adding another unique historical element to the collection. With a limited edition presentation of just 750 five-coin sets worldwide, this release stands as a fitting tribute to 200 years of Sovereign history and craftsmanship.
