Description

The collection includes a Quarter Sovereign, Half Sovereign, and Full Sovereign, each featuring the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. The reverses showcase iconic British aircraft set against a full-colour Union Flag backdrop: the Hawker Hurricane Mk I of 257 Squadron on the Quarter Sovereign, the Sopwith F.1 Camel of 208 Squadron on the Half Sovereign, and the Supermarine Spitfire Mk I of 92 Squadron on the Full Sovereign.
Significantly, each coin represents a world first within the Sovereign series, as the first gold Quarter Sovereign, Half Sovereign, and Full Sovereign ever issued to feature a coloured design. Combining military history, aviation heritage, and innovative craftsmanship, this collection stands as a unique tribute to a century of British air defence.
